The role
SAP HCM Portuguese Payroll Consultant
Our client is looking to urgently hire an SAP Portuguese Payroll Consultant with a strong level of English, a positive attitude, strong motivation, and a desire for professional growth. With them you won’t just configure payroll systems — you’ll work at the forefront of SAP and AI innovation, using their proprietary AI-powered accelerators to help our clients go live faster, with smoother and more reliable implementations. The successful candidate will participate in a Portuguese SAP project implementation for a well-known multinational as a lead consultant. He or she will be in charge of customizing the system supported by the global team.
The work will be remote but your location could be Spain or Portugal.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 5 full-cycle SAP Portuguese Payroll implementation projects in a similar role (SAP Payroll consultant) with a minimum of 7 years experience working in SAP HCM for Portugal with strong focus on payroll scheme. (This may be flexible).
- Good knowledge on payroll scheme configuration in addition to normal PA, PY SAP customising.
- Experience with SAP Payroll / SAP Employee Central Payroll implementation methodologies.
- SAP Time Evaluation experience – Desirable.
- SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central and Time Off experience – Desirable.
Required Competencies
- Strong knowledge of the SAP HXM data model (Infotypes, clusters, database tables, etc.).
- Solid understanding of HR processes (Personnel Administration and Payroll) – Mandatory.
- Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop professionally.
- Demonstrates confidence in their area of expertise, resourcefulness, and commitment to achieving project objectives.
- Effective time management skills to meet project and service deadlines.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Well-organized, committed, and customer-oriented.
Certifications & Qualifications
- SAP HXM/HCM Certification
- Fluent Portuguese and good conversational English level – Mandatory
- University degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
What you'll be doing
Key Responsibilities
- Gather customer requirements and lead business workshops.
- Prepare high-quality project documentation based on our client’s methodology templates, adhering to, SAP ACTIVATE, including: Business Blueprint (BBP) / Payroll Workbook, Wage Type Catalogue, Year-to-Date Document, Data Migration Plan, Test Plan, Training Plan
- Configure SAP Portuguese Payroll according to the approved BBP or Payroll Workbook.
- Collaborate with the offshore team on generic payroll configuration.
- Maintain effective communication with the Project Manager and Executive Management in English.
- Report project progress, risks and issues to the Project Manager to ensure successful project delivery.
- Identify out-of-scope requirements and manage them efficiently together with the Project Manager.
- Adapt to Agile project methodologies.
- Work collaboratively with the project team to achieve project and service objectives.
